I setup the telescope this Friday night at my friends Black Star II Observatory. We decided to experiment a bit and mounted the Orion short tube 80 in a dual configuration with the Meade ED 80mm APO and the Edge 800HD OTA. This setup required some drilling of one of the rings sets, which was accomplished very quickly by Alex. This configuration allows the Orion short tube to be a dedicated guiding scope while the APO and Edge HD can be setup with the Xsi and DSI IIIC so I can do simultaneous widefield and close field imaging. I removed the larger Losmandy dovetail plate on the APO and replaced it with a much shorter and lighter ADM dovetail plate. This resulted in a much lighter setup. The addition of the Orion Short Tube 80 did not result in any added weight gain.

Weather may Cooperate this week for Imaging
It finally looks like I may get a break in the weather this coming weekend. It has been weeks since I have had any opportunity to consider setting up the gear. My fingers are crossed with some luck I will get some imaging time in. The moon will be up, but not to after 11pm on these nights, may be able to get some Deep Sky pics. My goal will be to setup very early, possible nights include Friday and Saturday. I will be keeping close tabs on the weather all week. I would like to get some more time with the Edge 800HD and also with my 80mm APO.
