My schedule at work has been pretty hectic the past 6 weeks or so. I had some time tonight free and thought it was good time to start organizing my gear. I have lots of gear and noticed last time I went to setup the new CGEM that I was rummaging through much of the gear for my LX-200 GPS setup. This is precious time lost in the field and amounts to lots of cases to carry to the field.
My night started with a trip to Home Depot to see what they had for inexpensive sturdy shelving. I found a nice black(favorite color) 4 tier shelf for $18. I snatched this up quickly along with a larger shelf for my downstairs remodeling project. I came home grabbed some coffee and decided it was time to begin organizing my recently setup computer and astronomy area. This is no small task, considering I have been working on remodeling projects in the house.
Once I had one wall clear I decided I needed to take some pictures and place some more gear pictures up. I decided some accessory pictures would be cool and a good way to document my inventory for the insurance company. I have also included some new pictures of the CGEM Edge 800HD with the Kendrick Dew heating system attached along with a new hand extension cable for the hand controller from Astrophotography Tonight. The new cable works great and takes the stress off of the short cable provided by Celestron, in addition it offers plenty of room to walk around the scope without grabbing camera cables like the coiled cable designs do. New pictures below. Enjoy!

The new observatory dome and building structure was relocated from Long Lake, Ny to my house in Dalton, Ma today. I rented a 24 ft truck to relocate the observatory which had been dismantled in sections and marked for easy reassembly by previous owner. The trip for most part was uneventful, besides some very rough roads on 28North between Minerva and Long Lake. I have never in my life seen frost heaves like they grow in the Adirondack mountains.
Upon arrival in Long Lake the truck slipped a bit at top of the drive, some sand and a bit of shoveling and snowblowing, and the loading of the observatory and dome quickly resumed. It took about 1 full hour to load the truck and secure the load for the long journey to its new home in Dalton, Ma. The observatory components are now back in Dalton to be covered by tarp in the morning.
I will have several months now to plan for the observatory reconstruction. The previous owner did a remarkable job of documenting each and every component and even provided a cd full of dismantling pictures. The owner even had the loading of truck perfectly staged with some great ideas to using the deep snow to our advantage. The heavy flooring was moved in two sections with a clever sled type attachment fabricated from some material on hand. More info to come.

Just back from work but I have to head back in. I had time to unpack the new Edge 800 ota and mounted it in side by side setup with my Meade 80mm ED5000 APO on the CGEM. I had time to snap a few very quick unplanned pictures off. I will have to wait until I have few hours spare time to post larger pics with greater detail and much better backdrop.

Meade 80mm ED 5000 APO Triplet and Celestron 800 HD OTA on CGEM Mount with Kendricks Digifire 10 dewheater system and ADM Accessories. Meade 12" LX-200 GPS. Not Pictured Orion Short Tube 80 Guide Scope Package.
